West Lincoln Optimist Club provides opportunities for our youth to participate on various levels of baseball teams. We offer Wee Ball (ages 3-4 for boys and girls), T-Ball (ages 5-6), Coach Pitch (ages 7-8), and Player Pitch Baseball (ages 9-18). Our coaching staff work to develop fundamentally sound skills for all youth and in the process work to ensure that all players are enjoying their baseball experience. In our baseball program, all players are guaranteed to play at least 2 innings in every game regardless of skill or talent levels. In Optimist level play, it isn't important whether we win or lose, but how we play the game and the level of sportsmanship that is shown.
Wee Ball was designed in 2006 to bring children ages 3 and 4, together to experience the same fundamentals as T-Ball, but with age appropriate children. Wee Ball has been a success. This age group will give our youngest players the time they need to learn where the bases are, some safety procedures of the game, good sportsmanship, and most of all how to have fun playing.
T-Ball is for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 6, and teaches the basic fundamentals of baseball while allowing them to concentrate on their swing, the proper ways to stop, catch, and throw the ball as well as how to have fun. This is the last age group of co-ed. The birthday deadline is May 1st for all age groups.
